- Open reviewThis game is truly special — genuinely, profoundly special. I once said it was the closest experience I’ve had to Silent Hill without overshadowing its own unique voice. But looking back now, I realize I didn’t fully grasp it at the time. It’s not like the best in its genre — it is one of them. Eldritch horror. Cosmic horror. Doomed yuri. Each of these themes is difficult to handle on its own, yet Signalis manages to weave all three together flawlessly. It absorbs the essence of The King in Yellow, fills its world with rich parallels and details, and still makes every piece feel meaningful. The more time passes, the more I appreciate its craft. Signalis isn’t the kind of game that leaves you saying “I’m enlightened now” or “I’ve unlocked some higher truth.” Sure, it deals with identity, selfhood, and even subtle political commentary — but it never preaches. Instead, it plants those ideas deep within its worldbuilding and narrative, letting the emotions do the talking. Signalis is a game about love — not in words, but in feeling. And that feeling lingers, long after the screen fades to black.
