Let me put it this way: both the genre and Overwatch have long ceased to be relevant, to the point where I didn’t think I’d be intrigued by even a good new example of this type of game. And yet, here we are.
To elaborate on my negative expectations, the recent decline of the MCU and the lackluster quality of Marvel games outside of Spider-Man both contributed to my initial lack of interest when this was first announced.
As a result, the game turned out to be highly polished, launching with a sizable roster where most characters are not only interesting and well-designed but also equipped with skills that suit their personalities and offer meaningful variety.
It made an incredibly strong start, but from this point on, its success will depend on how they continue to support and expand the game.
