I booted up Slap Them All with genuine excitement, since the resurgence of the genre after Shredder’s Revenge makes me eager to try almost any new entry I see. Especially when a game comes with such charming visuals, my expectations rise even higher. Unfortunately, beyond its appealing art style, there isn’t much left to hold onto. From the very first stage, the gameplay feels thin and lacking, and since it never really evolves, it quickly falls into repetition and monotony. Normally this is the kind of genre I’d happily binge through to the end, but instead it became the kind of game I’d revisit occasionally for a single stage, only to shelve again—making it a much longer and less satisfying journey to finish.
