Honestly, before playing, I expected it to be one of those games that just slaps on a small gimmick to an already familiar formula.
I figured as long as the rest was solid, I’d have fun.
But the part I thought would just be a minor feature — the Alters — turned out to be way more integral to the gameplay than I anticipated.
On top of that, the unexpectedly heavy story focus turned the resource management aspect — which usually feels like a chore unless I’m really into the mood — into a meaningful tool rather than a goal.
