As the credits rolled, I couldn’t help but think:
“This must be how those lucky mf’s felt playing FFVII back in ’97.”
I was ready to love this game — but I wasn’t ready to love it this much.
In so many ways, it hits the gold standard:
A captivating story, masterful storytelling, naturally flowing dialogue,
unforgettable music that matches every mood,
jaw-dropping scenery you can’t get enough of,
and an incredible variety of environments and enemies that constantly surprise you.
And on top of all that, every mechanic feels tight, polished, and cherry-picked from the best in the genre — then pushed even further.
They didn’t just do everything right.
They raised the bar.
In the end, it’s all here — and it’s all as it should be.
Could I nitpick? Sure. I could ask for a few extra features.
But honestly? It doesn’t matter.
