It seems like some design-related issues may have held the game back from gaining more traction early on. In metroidvanias, the key driving force is usually the sense of progression and exploration, and the lack of balance and depth in those areas seems to have hurt the experience here.
That said, for those who can look past these issues, it’s actually a pretty good game. Both the visual design and the gameplay are quite enjoyable. Where it really stands out, though this may not be for everyone, is its characters and dialogue. For a metroidvania, it features a surprising amount of character interaction, and for players looking for that kind of experience, it can become a very engaging game.
