With beat ’em up games making a comeback these days, I find myself getting excited every time—especially when it’s based on a franchise I already like. Good animations help a lot with that initial hype as well.
I wouldn’t say I don’t enjoy these games, or that most of them are bad. In fact, I usually play them from start to finish without getting bored. Still, at least among the ones I’ve played, many seem to follow the same path set by TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge without really adding anything new, and that’s a bit disappointing.
Thankfully, since this franchise already has strong roots in the genre, they managed to deliver a game that’s even better than its predecessor. The story, boss fights, and the way the city is used all felt quite satisfying.
