Among the numbered entries in the series, this one seems to feature the smallest mechanical leap. Because of that, it didn’t quite give me the feeling of “built on great foundations and elevated to another level.” That may sound negative, but it’s really more about expectations—because in practice, the game is already built on very fun fundamentals and has reached a fully polished state with the third entry. I still ended up genuinely loving my time with it. The amount of content is also very satisfying.
I still prefer the style of the first game, but at least exploring the map feels enjoyable again rather than like a chore, and that alone makes a big difference.
