I want to look at it both as a fighting game and as an adventure game, and when I compare it to the Storm 1-2-3 trilogy, I’d say it sits right in the middle on both fronts.
In terms of combat mechanics, it doesn’t quite reach the peak of the third game; it actually feels closer to the first one in that sense. Still, with its added touches and a more polished presentation, the already fun core gameplay keeps it enjoyable for hours. When it comes to the character roster, it’s definitely broader than the first game, but not quite distinct enough to stand out on its own.
As for the adventure mode, it’s quite far from what the first Storm offered — more in line with the third game’s approach — yet it manages to differentiate itself more clearly this time. Setting aside the mission structure and gameplay loop, it delivers a stronger atmosphere through its well-framed camera work and neatly designed set-piece scenes.
