It almost makes you want to call it an underrated gem. The “underrated” part is clear, the “gem” might be a bit of a stretch. Think of it like a popcorn movie that somehow went even more under the radar than it should have.
Its familiar fantasy setting makes it very easy to get into, with a simple and approachable motivation driving the story forward. I wouldn’t say it offers anything particularly deep, but most of the characters feel distinct and likable. The light romance mechanics are fun to follow, and the variety of characters supports that nicely.
The combat and map systems aren’t especially deep either, but they work well enough to keep the pacing balanced. I’m not sure I’d recommend it out of nowhere, but I do think most people who try it will end up enjoying it.
