Killzone 2 (PS3) – A Retrospective Review
Revisiting this flagship Sony title after playing the first Killzone reminded me just how dramatic the leap in graphics was from the Playstation 2 to the Playstation 3 era. Killzone 2 was definitely visually stunning ; its graphics, animations, and physics were arguably ahead of its time. Back when I first played it as a kid, I honestly thought Killzone 2 was the peak of what video game graphics could ever be. There was no way games could look better than this… right? :D
However, while the presentation still holds up fairly well, I believe that the gameplay and mission design haven’t aged quite as gracefully. The aiming, in particular, often feels imprecise and frustrating, which can take away from the overall experience.
What disappointed me most though, was the story. The lore of Killzone has always felt like there’s so much more depth and epicness to explore, so much more to learn, yet the games tend to focus on smaller scale stories within that vast world.
Despite its flaws, Killzone 2 remains a memorable game in the series for me; but one that doesn't quite live up to its potential beyond its graphics.
"7/10"
