Killzone HD (PS3) – A Retrospective Review
Since I recently got my hands on a PS2 and PS3 again after many years, I’ve been going back to play the games I missed out on as a kid. This was actually my first time playing the original Killzone, so I decided to try out the "remastered" HD version on the PS3.
While it is definetely looks sharper and more polished in the HD version, the controls and aiming still feel just as clunky as they likely did back on the PS2. Honestly, I went in with zero expectations, but to my surprise, Killzone managed to impress me in a few ways; The story was engaging enough to keep me motivated, and for the most part, the gameplay and difficulty offered me a satisfying challenge.
However, The Killzone universe has always seemed like it has way more depth and epic stories to tell, like there’s this huge world we’ve only gotten a glimpse of. But the games usually stick to smaller, more focused stories, so we never really get to see the full picture. We only ever get a glimpse of the bigger picture which makes the missed potential all the more disappointing.
