Far: Changing Tides (PC)
Booted this game up and it instantly took me back to how much I liked the first game a couple years ago. Far: Changing Tides has that same calm, lonely vibe, just this time you’re out at sea instead of dragging your machine across land. And honestly, I really liked the shift in setting :) The vast, empty seas fit perfectly with that lonely journey theme the FAR games are going for.
The gameplay is still pretty simple but really satisfying. You’re just managing your little ship, solving simple puzzles, and slowly moving forward as the game keeps throwing in a new mechanic every half hour. It’s super chill, no pressure, and the atmosphere kinda carries the whole experience.
Far: Changing Tides definitely feels less dark than the first game, and at times even kind of cute. In almost every way, Changing Tides builds on what came before, better atmosphere, gameplay, and art direction. I still think the first one hit me harder tho, probably because it was my first time experiencing this kind of storytelling. That being said, I absolutely loved the final scene. Now I just need a sequel set in the sky.
