Portal (PC) - A Retrospective Review?
As someone who loves video games, there were only a few things I was ashamed of, and not playing the Portal franchise was definitely one of them. I honestly don’t even know where to begin. I had a great time with the first Portal, but oh boy… Portal 2 absolutely blew me away. With this game, I’ve come to truly appreciate why Valve is held in such esteemed regard.
After finishing Portal 2, I realized the first game almost feels like a demo in comparison. In every possible way, Portal 2 is simply the superior experience. The atmosphere, gameplay variety, pacing, level designs, story, dialogues, characters, and even the humor… the list just goes on.
I’m not going to sit here and break down Portal 2’s mechanics and explain how well they’re crafted. But I will say this; just like in the first game, those very mechanics are what make Portal 2 so special. There’s nothing else quite like it in any other game I’ve played, and that uniqueness is what sets Portal 2 apart. It is exactly what Portal 2 makes a timeless classic.
