I played this game quite recently, so my impressions are still pretty fresh. Overall, I found it to be a decent experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t impress me as much as I hoped it would.
One of my main issues was the presence of what I felt was an excessive amount of modern social and political messaging. I don’t necessarily have a problem with these themes being present, but in this game they sometimes felt too noticeable and persistent, which took away from my enjoyment.
Another issue is that the formula is starting to feel repetitive. I really enjoyed the first Spider-Man game, but Spider-Man 2 feels too similar to it in many ways. I already found Miles Morales somewhat repetitive and lacking in variety, and unfortunately, Spider-Man 2 confirmed some of those concerns for me.
That said, I have nothing negative to say about the gameplay itself. The combat and web-swinging are still incredibly fun and polished, but they are largely the same as in the first game. Overall, it’s a solid game, but I expected more from it
