Marvel’s Spider-Man is a fantastic superhero game and, in my opinion, one of the best Spider-Man games ever made. Since this was the first entry in this particular series, the gameplay felt fresh and innovative, especially the web-swinging and combat, which are both incredibly fun and satisfying.
The story is also one of its strongest points. I really enjoyed Peter Parker’s character and his relationship with the people around him, while Doctor Octopus works extremely well as the main antagonist. The story manages to give Peter a more personal side while still delivering the superhero action you would expect.
The game isn’t perfect, though. Some of the side activities can become repetitive, and the overall open-world structure is fairly familiar. Still, the core gameplay, story, and the feeling of actually being Spider-Man make up for those flaws. Overall, a really enjoyable game and a strong first entry from Insomniac.
