The Ancient Gods is a fantastic expansion to DOOM Eternal, keeping the same fast and brutal gameplay while adding enough new mechanics to make the experience feel fresh. The new weapon and additional gameplay elements introduce new ways to approach combat without losing what made the base game so enjoyable.
The DLCs are also very important for the lore of DOOM. Without going into spoilers, they expand the story considerably and introduce some extremely important characters and events that give much more context to the Doom Slayer and the world around him.
Overall, it’s more of the DOOM Eternal gameplay that I already loved, but with new mechanics, a different challenge and a much deeper focus on the story. A great expansion that feels like a meaningful continuation rather than just extra content.
