Log details

Famously released in an absolutely disastrous state, but now post-patches Unity is a perfectly playable game. This time out we are in the shoes of Arno Dorian, a young Assassin who sets out to investigate the murder of his adoptive father, the local Templar Grandmaster. Annoyingly, Arno doesn't ever even recognise the ongoing French Revolution around him, which is a missed trick, and other far more engaging characters come and go around him. Paris is stuffed with things to do but they're all worthless busywork; by far the most interesting thing to do in Paris is simply soak in what is the most alive world Ubisoft have ever built. Combat has been retooled yet again, this time moving away from the counter-kill format that has been used since the first game, and instead it's replaced with a thin version of the Batman Arkham combat. It's hard not to view Unity as a missed opportunity, despite the incredible production values. Check out my full review!
