One of Mass Effect 2's main expansions, Lair of the Shadow Broker reunites us with former companion Liara T'Soni. Although Liara appears in the base game in a minor role, here she is once again elevated to "important character" status as Shepard finds her embroiled in a deadly cat-and-mouse fight with the Shadow Broker, an infamous information dealer who exerts incredible influence over galactic politics and business.
Although mostly combat, LotSB takes us through a series of exciting sequences. The downtime we get is brief but does a lot of work filling out Liara's character, especially as it takes the time to address what happened to her in the 2-year gap where Shepard was dead. Her character takes a huge leap in this DLC, taking her down a new, darker path but in turn sculpting a far more engaging Liara as a result of it, and the ending of this DLC winds up with a brilliant boss fight and a resolution with huge implications for the future of Mass Effect.
