A consistent piece of Mass Effect's set dressing is the corpse of a Reaper known as the Leviathan of Dis, and unsurprisingly during the events of Mass Effect 3, our heroes are very interested in what on earth managed to kill it. This begins a lengthy multi-stage quest chain that takes Mass Effect into a new space - a kind of mystery what-dun-it - with some effective, pseudo-Lovecraftian elements pasted in for good measure. The story of Leviathan takes us to some exciting places - my favourite is an eerie Village of the Damned asteroid-bound facility - but I can't help but feel there's almost something disappointing in its remit, which is to explore the history of the Reapers themselves. It's good, but it's also one of those mysteries I'd have been happy never knowing. Check out my full review!
