Shadow of the Erdtree is an incredible expansion and, while it doesn’t quite reach the level of the base game for me, it comes surprisingly close. The boss fights are some of the most challenging and memorable FromSoftware has created, and the variety of encounters keeps the experience exciting throughout. The map is probably my favorite aspect of the DLC. The different biomes and areas are incredibly well designed, with each region having its own atmosphere and identity. From the areas surrounding the Frenzied Flame to the mountains around Bayle and the regions affected by Scarlet Rot, the world feels dense, mysterious, and rewarding to explore. It’s a fantastic expansion that adds a huge amount of quality content to an already incredible game. Definitely one of the best DLCs FromSoftware has ever made.
