I went into this with a bit of extra goodwill because of its Fear & Hunger-style encounters, they're a familiar formula that I already enjoy. What makes this game special, though, is its approach to its war setting. Instead of saying, "Here's one side, war is bad," or trying to present both sides just to arrive at the same conclusion, it deliberately keeps things uncertain. You're never really framed as belonging to any particular side or ideology. That ambiguity is exactly what makes it so powerful. By refusing to take that perspective, the game conveys how meaningless those distinctions become in war, and how, in the end, it's ordinary people who pay the price. I found that incredibly effective.
