Terms of Service
The rules for using Firetale. Short, and written to be read.

Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Firetale, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. They apply alongside our Privacy Policy.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, and 16 in countries where that is the minimum age for consent to data processing.
- One person per account. Keep your password to yourself.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us at info@firetale.net if you think someone else has access to it.
What you post
You keep ownership of everything you write: your reviews, posts, comments, lists and messages are yours. By posting them on Firetale you give us permission to store, display and distribute them on the site, which is simply what is needed to show your review to another member. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
You agree not to post:
- Anything unlawful, or content that harasses, threatens or incites violence against anyone.
- Hate speech, or attacks on people for who they are.
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This results in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, a report to the authorities.
- Content you do not have the rights to post.
- Spam, scams, malware, or bulk automated posting.
- Someone else’s private information.
- Deliberate spoilers posted to ruin a game for others. Firetale has a spoiler flag; please use it.
Moderation
You can report posts, comments, users and chat messages from the site. We review reports and may remove content, or suspend or permanently ban an account, where these terms have been broken.
We aim to be proportionate: a first offence usually means the content comes down. Repeated or serious breaches mean the account goes. If you think a decision was wrong, email us and we will look again.
Ratings and reviews
Score games however you like. Opinions are the point of the site and we will not remove a review for being negative, or unpopular, or wrong. We will remove one that breaks the rules above.
Game data and artwork
Game metadata and artwork come from IGDB and remain the property of their respective owners. Firetale claims no ownership of game titles, cover art or screenshots. If you hold rights to material shown here and want it removed, email info@firetale.net.
Service availability
Firetale is free to use. We do our best to keep it running, but we cannot promise it will always be available, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever have to shut the service down, we will give notice and time to export your data.
You can export your library at any time from Settings. We would rather you had your data than felt trapped here.
Closing your account
You can delete your account whenever you like from Settings. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law.
When the law requires something of us
We will comply with a valid court order, warrant or lawful request from a regulator or law enforcement agency, which can include disclosing information about an account, restricting content, or preserving data beyond the point where it would normally be deleted.
We do not do this quietly. What we hold, how we assess a request, and when we will tell you about one is set out in Legal requests and disclosure in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
Firetale is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Content on Firetale is written by its members. Opinions in reviews and posts are theirs, not ours.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will announce it on the site rather than relying on you noticing the date above.
